Resilience Catalogue Launch: Artists and Curators Share Their Experiences

Silo travels to São Paulo to launch the Resilience: Artistic Residency Catalogue on June 7th, at Casa do Povo, with the presence of resident artists and curators.

On Saturday, June 7th, Silo – Arte e Latitude Rural will launch the new Resilience: Artistic Residency Catalogue. The launch will take place at Casa do Povo, in São Paulo, at 3 pm. In addition to the work of the resident artists, the catalogue features texts by guest curators Clarissa Diniz and Cláudio Oliveira, as well as essays by residency curator Icaro Ferraz Vidal Jr. and Cinthia Mendonça.

The conversation will include the participation of our director Cinthia Mendonça; residency curator Ícaro Ferraz Vidal Jr.; and resident artists: Hemak (Angola), Mariana Rodrigues (São Paulo), and Oksana Rudko (Russia/SP). The roundtable will also be mediated by artist and curator Fernando Velasquez (São Paulo).

The fifth edition of Resilience took place over a lunar cycle beginning on July 23rd and ending on August 20th, 2023, at Serrinha do Alambari, Resende – RJ, bringing together artists and curators to explore possible connections between art and agriculture.

During the immersive residency, participants visited productive backyards, including farms, smallholdings, and the Roseli Nunes Settlement, located in the municipality of Piraí – RJ.

Cinthia Mendonça, Silo’s Director, while developing her doctoral thesis, asks: “what is thought about the contemporary peasant universe, and what is thought from within it?” — and this question became the thread running through the entire immersive experience.
